UNITEDRESPECT IS ROCKING COLOGNE!
With space for up to 20.000 (varying according to event and depending on stage assembly) and a useable area of 83.700 square metres, various gastronomic facilities, and modern stage, sound and light technics it is suitable for a wide variety of events such as sports, musicals, congresses and conferences.
Because of the matches of Cologne’s ice hockey club Kölner Haie which take place regularly in here, the hall features a coverable rink as well as standing and seated tribunes variable in size. The Lanxess Arena was designed by the Cologne architecture office Böhm and built between 1996 and 1998.
The official opening was on 17 October 1998 within the context a concert of Luciano Pavarotti. Alreadey from 11 September 1998, Kölner Haie matches have been taking place, and there had also been concerts before the official openings.
Numerous notable artists have so far given concerts in the Lanxess Arena. The very first concert was given by Swiss pop star DJ BoBo on 1 October 1998, followed by two concerts of British pop group Depeche Mode within the context of their “Singles 1986-1998 Tour”. Bruce Springsteen, too, has already had three performances in the Arena, which was sold out each time; last in 2007 with the E Street Band.
Also the internationally successful tour of The Nokia Night of the Proms regulary fills the Lanxess Arena on two nights in December. In November 2008, the German premiere of Disney’s Mulan took place in here. Furthermore, long-established bands of Cologne have their “home games” in here, such as Bläck Fööss with their New Year’s concerts or Höhner, who both regularly sell out the Arena.
A crowd puller during the Cologne Carnival is the event “Laughing Kölnarena”, successor of the “Laughing Sports Hall”. With UNITEDRESPECT, all stops are pulled out in the interior and exterior areas of the Arena. For the choice of the international DJs and acts as well as for the sensational stage and other technics which are used. The 13.000 guests and fans can look forward to a veritable explosion of joy.
No matter where you're coming from: Due to its central location in the Deutz district east of the Rhine, the LANXESS Arena is easy to reach. Follow the "Kölnarena" and "Koelnmesse" signs from Düsseldorf. You will find the LANXESS Arena in the immediate vicinity of the Deutz train station. Ample parking space directly at the LANXESS Arena is provided with road signs.
From Düsseldorf, Oberhausen, Dortmund:
At the motorway junction (Kreuz) Leverkusen change to the A 3 toward Frankfurt; then at the junction Köln-Ost onto the express highway B 55 toward Köln-Zentrum up until the exit for LANXESS Arena. Follow the signposting.
From Olpe, Siegen:
A4 or express highway B 55 toward Köln-Zentrum up until the exit for LANXESS Arena. Follow the signposting.
From Frankfurt:
Follow the A 3, at the three-leg interchange (Dreieck) Heumar, change to the A 4 toward Aaachen, then at the motorway junction (Kreuz) Gremberg onto the A 559 toward Köln-Deutz all the way to the end of the motorway.
From Bonn, Köln/Bonn Airport:
A 559 toward Köln-Zentrum, -Deutz all the way to the end of the motorway.
From Aachen, Koblenz, Euskirchen:
At the motorway junction (Kreuz) Köln-West change to the A 4 toward Olpe, Frankurt; then at the junction Gremberg onto the A 559 toward Köln-Deutz all the way to the end of the motorway.
From Krefeld, Neuss:
A 57 to the end of the motorway, then B 55 toward Zoobrücke, Autobahnkreuz Köln-Ost, until the exit for LANXESS Arena.
Parking:
The parking garages P1 to P4 of the LANXESS Arena are signposted. You can access these via Opladener Straße, which is situated in the tunnel unerneath the LANXESS Arena. Driving toward town you can access P1/P3, coming from town P1/P2. Via Gummersbacher Straße, P4 and the bus parking P5 can be accessed. Maximal headroom is 1,9 m.
Important notice:
The parking fee is 1€ per hour which is to be paid prior to leaving at the pay machines or at the booth on level 3 of the car park. You can, however, pay the so-called “Arena-Tarif” at the pay machines in advance, thus avoiding waiting time at the machines later on. The "Arena-Tarif" is valid until 6am the next day.
